Two weeks ago we got two bids for the building designed by Larry McCool and Associates.

Both bids were in the $725,000 range. Last week we rejected the bids at the Wagoner County Commissioners meeting. Obviously, there was something wrong. Mr. McCool did tell me that the bids might come in $50,000 over the $500,000 estimate we were working on. Mr. McCool tried to discover the cause of missing his estimate by $200,000 but was unsuccessful. I'm only concerned that his estimate and the actual bids were off by 25 percent. We wasted a lot of time and money on this.

We have estimates coming on modifications to the existing building. We will see if it can be completed with a reasonable amount of money and in a reasonable time. Reasonable time being before any chance of freezing weather. If not, we wait till next year.

The Stonebluff VFD bought an American LaFrance fire truck from Sperry OK. The 1972 pumper was totally rebuilt in 1986 by American LaFrance. It has a few problems but we feel like we got a great deal.

We have replaced two 1 1/2 inch lines on the top of the pump and are having some dificulty getting the pressure we should sometime. We have an expert coming to look at it. He has worked on the truck in the past and is framiliar with it.

Overall we got a great deal on the pumper and Sperry got some needed funds for their operation. A good deal all around.
